Our notes on specific properties

Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana

Cap Cana, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (adults only)

The chef concierge system gets excellent celiac reviews at the restaurants; buffets and coffee shops are the weak spot.

🍳 Breakfast

Gluten-free breadYes
Separate GF toasterYes
Made-to-order GF dishesYes
Buffet cross-contactMixed reports

Pre-packaged GF muffins, croissants and rolls in an enclosed case, an omelette-only station, and GF crepes, pancakes and waffles (a dedicated waffle maker and toaster were reported). Buffet labelling was thin and some stations shared tongs.

🍽️ On-site restaurants

A chef concierge (with a WhatsApp chat and a bilingual letter) briefs the head chef of each restaurant; dedicated fryers and separate prep were reported. Journeys (Indian) and Waves (steakhouse) were favourites.

What public traveller reports say

positive · restaurants
Celiac guests over 3 to 6 nights describe a chef concierge who informed each restaurant's head chef, dedicated fryers and a separate kitchen for GF items; several said it was the first trip since diagnosis they did not worry, with no symptoms.
mixed · breakfast
Buffets were hit or miss: always some GF items, but little labelling, shared tongs and scoops, and managers not always available to walk you through.
negative · restaurants
Some found dishes marked GF on menus were not actually GF; the GF pizza was poor.
